chic futurism...

chic futurism...
chic futurism... by cristov featuring summer jewelry

my vision for the future isn't necesarily futuristic, but it is somewhat streamlined, a uniform. the look is made up of pieces that are un-fussy, clean, yet have personality, providing we are still allowed the priveledge of personality in the future. the colour palette is quite sterile and cold, but not in an off-putting way, the look is very approachable. leather is used as a reflective surface, which to me, is quite futuristic. i feel this look, while contemporary and wearable now, is cutting-edge enough to be appropriate 40 years from now...
this look consists of...
jil sander earrings
a chloe shirt
a balenciaga sweater
a margiela skirt
margiela ankle boots
a ysl cuff
a timex watch
and a celine bag

1 white tee, 2 unique looks
1 white tee, 2 unique looks by cristov featuring multi color earrings

the white tee, a staple, everyone should own a good one, you can wear it with anything and everything.
look #1 we'll call it, bright minimalism, comprising of a hot-pink wide leg pant, blue marbled dries pumps, bright enamel earrings by tomm binns, a crystal cuff by balenciaga and a touch of humour from a margiela clutch
look #2 we'll call it, grunge glamour, consisting of a balmain black leather pant, a michael kors fur jacket, a stack of givenchy gold chains, a mens gold dior watch, a black nina ricci bag and black lanvin pumps

xoxo gossip girl

xoxo gossip girl
xoxo gossip girl by cristov featuring dior jewelry

i've never watched a full episode of gossip girl, and i fail to understand way, it seems to have everything one could want from a tv show, set in new york, full of beautiful people, constant drama unlike the drama in my own life [not really] and awesome fashion! anyhow, i see this outfit for serena [blake lively, anna wintour's fav] from what i've seen, she isn't afraid of a bit of a mish-mash of colours/prints/textures and this look has all of that. from the neon embroidery on the simple grey balenciaga sweater, to the royal azure of the proenza schouler skirt, then toning all that down with a fur collar military green elizabeth & james jacket, then a touch of gold with a men's dior watch, more colour dries van noten multi-strap sandal, some luxe with an hermes bracelet and the look is finished with a tan proenza schouler clutch...

pah-lease...

as you can see, i have posted, and will continue to post some looks i have created using the brilliant website polyvore... in the hope that someone from, vogue, bazaar, grazia or russh will contact my blog and maybe offer me some work experience/internship. one can only hope...

maximal mininalist

maximal mininalist
maximal mininalist by cristov featuring wayfarer sunglasses

in the current move toward minimalism, this look, comprising of a nuetral colour palette is a more overt version of the trend. a fur skirt is paired with a camel leather tee. a brass michael kors watch and brass knuckleduster are as flashy as the look gets. a celine envelope clutch and fur lined shoes complete the look.

a little carrie...

a little carrie...
a little carrie... by cristov featuring ray ban sunglasses

this look, comprising of a rodarte dress, cob-web cardigan and spiked heels by rodarte x christian louboutin is a extreme version on carrie bradshaws eccentric take on lady-like dressing. worn with a petticoat, this dress has a very current mad-men 60's shape then belting it with the cardigan adds to the twisted classic look. a chanel 2.55, jil sander earrings and a brass cuff complete this look

kinda freja...

kinda freja...
kinda freja... by cristov featuring single breasted jackets

this is a relatively dark look, but still has touches of glamour in a casual, louche way. balmain sequinned harem pants are paired with a black kain tank and a black ann d menswear jacket. the look is given height by alexander wang ankle boots. accessories include an alexander wang bag, jil sander earrings a neon yellow timex watch and a barbed-wire ring by burberry...

calling carine...

calling carine...
calling carine... by cristov featuring a cropped blazer

i like mixing unexpected elements, in this outfit, if one was wearing the pink dries jacket closed you would probably not notice the beautiful detail at the waist of the jil sander skirt, but open it, it is a hidden surprise. this outfit is finished with gold and white accessories, oversized dior watch, cavalli ring, dries clutch, givenchy wedges and ray-bans. it is a maximalist look, but i don't think it shouts...

lady-like with punch

lady-like with punch
lady-like with punch by cristov featuring dior jewelry

as you can tell from my previous posts i'm not opposed to clashing colours and prints. this look is dominated by pieces from ysl, the clutch, the shoe, the skirt and the ring all from the french label. pairing the leopard-print skirt with the nude/purple check blouse may seem off-putting but it is pulled together by stella mccartney's slightly oversized double breasted jackets in grey houndstooth. the red shoe adds a jolt of colour and i think red manicure is also called of this look...

neon menswear

neon menswear
neon menswear by cristov featuring a multicolor necklace

borrowing slightly from the boys... a brass button double-breasted balmain jacket in paired with a slightly cropped camel pant. an ethnic print dries shirt add interest and a layer of reference. a gold watch and over-sized turquoise ring by ysl add richness, completing the look is a simple neon bright necklace, a neon yellow python bag by celine and bright pink pumps by ysl

abbey lee anyone?

abbey lee anyone?
abbey lee anyone? by cristov featuring a silk skirt

in that bohemian vein that abbey lee is known for , this outfit skews more evening, though casual evening. a basic kain tank is given a punch by a black jet-sequeined maxi-skirt and a rich ink-coloured lanvin fur. men's oxford shoes ground the look while accessories add a little kick plus the stone necklace matches the purple hermes satchel, but not in an obvious way. my chic take on the bohemian eccentric

ott to the max

ott to the max
ott to the max by cristov featuring an animal print bag

in the same maximalist vein of anna dello russo, this look is quite simple in its elements but when put together is a visual feast. classic elements of black, gold and leopard print are used for maximum impact. using a basic black tank and jean, the gold embroidered black fur jacket makes a real statement, layering gold accessories gives another layer of richness, the simple celine bag done in leopard adds extra punch and finished off with instant cool, black ray-bans.

unexpected classics

unexpected classics
unexpected classics by cristov featuring black sunglasses

taking all of these classic items, the men's oxford, a camel double-breasted jackets, ray-bans, cartier and hermes and pairing them with some unexpected pieces, a horizontal striped wrap skirt from dries and valentino's punk take on a lady-like pump and you end up with a look that is both timeless with just the right amount of edge to keep it current

flithy/gorgeous

there has been a little controversy going around the blogosphere regarding jake shears wardrobe malfunction where he flashes his testes at an audience in paris... i watched the video to see what all the fuss was about and noticed something quite special... now correct me if i'm wrong, but is ana matronic wearing fall 2010 prada, a version of the dress miranda kerr wore on the runway. it looks great on her, as does jake's outfit on him :)

what a cast...

yesterday, nicolas ghesquiere showed his spring 2011 collection for balenciaga, it is amazing, an eclectic mix of 90's punk grunge and super hi-tech fabrication in shapes that stand away from the body like armour. despite the superb clothing on the catwalk, this post is dedicated to the faces on the catwalk, the most exciting of faces belongs to bambi. in her first international season, the sydney girl with her signature bushy-brows was girl 6 at balenciaga's stellar show. she came out just after a 5 month pregnant miranda kerr. other shocks included amber valletta, ann catherine-lacroix, stella tennant, carolyn murphy and who closed the show, none other than la gisele bundchen.

again, congratulations to bambi... the show to be seen in

yah amanda...

the stunning amanda won cycle 6 of 'australia's next top model.' if only i were a betting man, i could've scored some dough from her win... her ccover for harper's bazaar is amazing, it is a shame though to see this miu miu dress on yet another cover. it has previously been featured on the covers of w, us + uk elle and uk and aussie vogue. it was first featured on the july cover of w, i just find it surprising that bazaar would choose to use a 5th and 6th hand dress 5 months since its first cover, especially since this is a summer issue, we've had the international resort collections in june so those clothes are obviously avaliable and this miu miu dress is from fall. it just seems strange for a magazine that esteems itself on being current and in-line with the international scene that this dress would be selected when there were many more summer appropriate clothes to pull from... just saying

p.s. i think the cover would've been brilliant if bazaar had of used amanda in the colour-block leather celine dress, but who am i

how cute 2...

for the second season in a row, natalia vodianova heads stella mccartney's print campaign. in a simple studio shoot it is all about natalia's stunning face and the chic, minimalist clothes stella has proposed for fall. as with all of stella's campaigns there is an element of art bought into the mix, this season, her logo has been manipulated into witty little characters that seem to interact with natalia, much to her oblivion, very cute indeed...

oops...!

same dress, 3 different publications! which cover do you think does this miu miu dress the most justice?

chameleon karen

it is quite amazing to see one girl in 2 entirely different campaigns in one season and for her to look virtually unrecognizable by comparision. such is the case with karen elson, who, for fall 2010 is featured in the hyper-feminine mad-men era louis vuitton campaign, and then she goes way, way into the future, looking almost alien-like for balenciaga. so, the question is, which karen do you like better, the karen who embraces her curves in seductive lv, or the karen who looks like she may be 'coming in peace' for balenciaga, in the chicest way possible...

BA-LEN-CI-AGA

for fall 2010, nicolas ghesquiere chose, for the second season in a row, to use a multi-girl campaign to sell his wares for balenciaga. the campaign, which looks like it was shot on the surface of mars, features freja beha-erichsen, stella tennant, karen elson, meghan collison, eliza cummings, julija steponaviciute, mirte maas, valerija kelava, kirsi pyrhonen + caroline brasch-nielsen. the faces and the clothes look amazing, it is really exciting to see the clothes in this context, it gives you another story to put to the clothes, because the clothes themselves are kind-of out-of-this-world, so this 'space-age' setting is extremely appropriate.

la la lanvin fall 2010

lanvin's amazing fall 2010 ad campaign, featuring none other than mariacarla boscono, anja rubik and magdalena frackowiak. i love the kind of symmetry and balance in the pictures and the kind of contained madness, your eyes darting all over the place just trying to take in all the details.

it was only a matter of time...

la gaga takes a spill @ heathrow, ouch!

another side to ms. mcneil

from french couture to aussie undies, catherine mcneil can do it all, featured here in 2 new campaigns for 'bonds,' the second of which is called 'made 2 share,' a unisex line also featuring aussie cricketer michael clarke

having been featured in ad campaigns for the worlds best, dior, louis vuitton, givenchy, dolce & gabbana and jean-paul gaultier, it is great to see that she will still support home-grown brands.

leaving on a jet plane... givenchy style

the newly released ad campaign for givenchy's fall 2010 luggage, featuring maglosia bela, mariacarla boscono and our very own catherine mcneil. i love the styling and boy does cat look good with red hair...

miranda x jil

debuted yesterday on 'style.com/' miranda kerr for jil sander fall 2010. a great shot, she looks very serene, although i am not totally keen on the side-boob action. speaking of side-boob action...

can the girl do no wrong...

miranda kerr is on quite the roll, david jones ambassador, victoria's secrets angel, appearances at prada's and balenciaga's fall 2010 catwalks, a couple of covers for gq magazine, a couple of appearances in v magazine, cover of i-d magazines latest issue, a steamy shoot for numero magazine and now, making her presence felt in prada fall 2010 ad campaign, cozying up to the classic clement chaubernaud, lucky girl...

lanvin spring 2011 menswear

lucas ossendrijver and alber elbaz presented their spring 2011 menswear collection for lanvin on the 27th of last month. it was my favourite collection from the spring 2011 season, it just had this kind of dressed up, casual ease that i find really refreshing and new. the looks seem just effortlessly cool, the sense of layering without the heaviness, in the tromp l'oeil cotton tee/wool vest and the drop shoulder double-breasted jacket with the flesh coloured sleeves and navy vest front. this was also seen in the jacket/coat concotion that draped in the front. i loved the thin long sleeved tees, one with a trompe l'oeil cummerbund, another with wrapped shoulders. the silhouettes, however simple, many of the overall looks were highly decorated, borrowing from the womens collection, the tribal-inspired jewellery looked every bit as right on the boys as it does the girls. the patched leather vest and coat, again hinted to the tribal but in a modern, sharp way. the bags and shoes felt very industrial, with chunky hardware and their mix of suede, leather, nylon. a visual feast of highly desirable clothes and accessories from the powerhouse of lanvin
