got them...

'readers feast' on swantson has provided me with some new reading material, alexander mcqueens book by kristen knox and the 'sex and the city 2' movie book. have already finished reading mcqueens book, read on the train. the 'satc2' book chronicles the wardrobes of the girls during their big arabian adventure, can't wait...

an exciting developement...

i went up to the big smoke today, hadn't been in a few weeks and was having withdrawals, i got my hit and boy do i feel better, anyhow, i went into harrolds, where they had just recieved shipment of fall 2010 ysl, including a wool version of the suit below, from the spring 2010 collection...

plus, i was speaking to one of the sales assistants and he was telling me, that on top of the already stellar roster of designers on the show-room floor including ysl, tom ford, marc jacobs, dunhill, john varvatos, antonio marras and corneliani that come september they will also be stocking balmain homme, givenchy, raf simons and pierre hardy footwear... i know what you are thinking, i need a bigger bank balance!

kinda familiar...

the cast from 'scrubs,' quite possibly the best show ever to grace the small screen... and below, looks from prada's new spring 2011 collection shown in milan on sunday, doppelganger much... apparently miuccia and i have the same taste in television programming, love it...

obscure inspiration aside, another fantastic collection from prada, will write a review in the next few days, for prada and the other collections that have left me feeling all tingly inside... stay tuned

epic...

style.com/ announced last month that the late isabella blow's entire wardrobe was to be going to auction at christie's in london. many commentators suggested that her collection was too vast and brilliant to be sold off in pieces, that it be sold as a whole, to be archived, so that future generations could enjoy its greatness and in turn celebrate isabella flair for the avant-garde. fast-forward to today, where style.com/ informed the world that the one and only, daphne guinness has picked up the entire collection, including 90 alexander mcqueen outfits, many dresses by john galliano and a vast range of hats by acclaimed milliner philip tracey. ms. guinness, an avid couture collector herself believes that 'like any artist, it [blow's wardrobe] should not be dispersed, but remain as a monument with people having access to it' and that blow's collection of mcqueen proves that he 'really deserves a place in fashion history'
great news indeed...

what a day...

today i took a family trip to chapel street to see 'satc2,' i hate to say it, but i was a little disappointed, there seemed to be alot of fluff and not quite the amount of substance fans of the show have come to expect. and it didn't seem to break much new ground, the same kind of story-line was used in the series, just not on this a grander scale. thats not to say though, that i didn't enjoy it, i just didn't feel as invested in the story as i previously had been, watching the series. and once again patricia field did an amazing job with the costuming, if not at times too amazing, some of the outfits for the situation were a bit OTT, but i guess that is part of the fantasy... i tried to get the movie book while at borders, but apparently it was still on back-order... another time... next weekend maybe.

i also made a wee dent in my wallet with 4 new magazines to feast my eyes on... can't wait!
the june issue of american vogue with blake lively on the cover... features a great interview with 'net-a-porter' founder natalie massenet
issue 22 of '10 men' featuring model sid ellisdon on its cover
issue 65 of 'v magazine' with scarlett johansson in ysl on its cover
+ the launch issue of 'industrie' magazine, with none other than the queen bee of the fashion industry, ANNA WINTOUR on its cover...

a very good day was had by all...

how was your?

how cute...

look at us, clara and i, back in the mid-90's, dressing up in my parents clothes. the jacket i am wearing is part of the suit dad married mum in... great colour huh. and it looks like clara's dress has the chicken-pox, in a chic ysl kinda way... we look so cheesy and innocent, huge grins from ear to ear. it was a simpler time, it was a better time, no mortgages, no bill, just wide-eyed, skin-your-knee, care-free fun...

talk about revolutionary, i bought back the power shoulder way before christophe decarnin did for balmain, i was, and still am, the little trend-setter...

adorable, clara hamming it up for the camera...

circa 2006, around the time of our year 12 graduation?? omigod, clara help me out... i have the worst memory...

*i hope you don't mind me posting these...

don't call my name... don't call my name...

she is amazing, there is no stopping her... here for your viewing pleasure is the recently debuted video clip for 'alejandro' which was directed by legendary fashion photographer steven meisel... enjoy...

unstoppable...

it would seem luscious lara stone aka mrs. walliams is on quite the role... she has been signed on exclusive to feature in all of calvin kleins major fall 2010 ad campaigns, collection, ck + ck jeans. quite the honour me thinks, only a hand full of models have had such a run, natalia, kate, brooke, christy, all legendary, iconic and instantly recognizable. here is one of lara's 'ck' prints, which also features... wait for it... abbey lee!

print-astic

oh, sjp, steal my heart, looking like a heavenly being in alexander mcqueen at the cfda awards... absolutely stunning

oh ms. gaga... ms. guiness

in the matter of 2 weeks, both lady gaga + daphne guinness have been spotted in some crazy-as shoes, both heeless super platforms, reminiscent of victoria beckhams 'antonio beradi' boots from 2008. *i like the way daphne collapses back to flat-foot while she is standing. both girls have a penchant for the extreme shoe... both have worn mcqueens infamous 'armadillos' + daphne was spotted on 2 seperate occasions wearing nina ricci's fall 2009 'pony' boots... these girls are taking gravity defying shoes to new heights [he... he... get it]

since this post is dedicated to the extreme shoe, take a look at these, they're pretty self-explanatory...

valentino + giancarlo

today, i re-watched 'valentino: the last emperor,' i had forgotten how brilliant it was. it is such a pleasure to be able to see someone of such greatness at work, to see the process of making such beauty. but on top of that, both valentino and his partner giancarlo giametti, themselves have such an impeccable style, it's that italian thing, they just have it, that old school way of dressing that is really, sadly, disappearing... everything nowadays is about comfort and ease, and with that, all too often, comes sloppiness and a lack of refinement, a real lack of care of how one presents themselves to the world. what is acceptable now was everyday dress, is rather appalling, i long for a time when dressing the way they dress was common place. i feel the need to have a huge wardrobe cleansing, sell off everything that is now irrelevant to me, and invest a good amount in a navy double-breasted suit...

walk a mile in my pants...

i had the laziest day today, i spent it's entirety on the couch watching disney channel... i'm such a tween girl :) i watched the new *dcom 'star-struck.' it had a very generic plot-line, boy meets girl, girl hates boy, boy and girl spend a few days together, girls opinion changes about him, boy does something wrong, girl cracks it, boy does something romantic, then everything is fine... there was some singing, some site seeing around l.a., a car called 'petunia' sank into quicksand. for what it was, it was a very entertaining movie...

then once star-struck had finished 'sonny with a chance' came on, and it was the funniest episode ever... i had tears streaming down my face from laughing so hard. i have posted the full episode from youtube below, unfortunately it was cut up into 3 parts, but enjoy none-the-less...

such an appropriate episode since my conversion to straight-leg 501's...

this sketch combines 3 great loves of mine, the real house-wives franchise [currently watching the trashiest of them all, real house-wives of atlanta on arena... i love kim] big ball-gowns and disney stars...

*disney channel original movie aka dcom
