kate + laura mulleavy showed their fall 2010 collection for rodarte in new york on the 16th of february. the show, which was quite a departure for rodarte, was light and airy and quite pretty, which, for the last couple of seasons, is a word you wouldn't have necessarily used to describe rodarte. although, like last season, their inspiration was quite dark, the resulting clothes, like always, were beautiful. patchwork draped floral dresses, were naive and pretty, but in a way that was grown-up and mature. 'big hug of a' wrap cardigans were luxe and cosy, rendered in patchwork check and suede. wool-fringed skirts added interest to little knit sleeveless sweaters with a scallop edge. each look was paired with nicolas kirkwood 'candle-stick' shoes, worn with sock or sheer embroidered leggings. the final passage of white dresses were like a dream, heavenly draped, some with feather adorned sleeves, others were dripping with strings of pearls and girlish lace. another whimiscal and complex and undeniably beautiful show from rodarte
